Holy Trinity Roman-Catholic church

Full description

The first Roman-Catholic church of Sovata/Szováta was built between 1870-1878. The initiator of the construction was Gábor Sebestyén parish priest, who sold his lands, forests, and animals to raise a new church. József Heigel, an engineer from Cluj/ Kolozsvár was entrusted with the planning, while the decorated organ was made in the workshop of József Anster and Son.
The interior furniture was changed in the 1980s, while the organ was replaced by a huge cross. Between 1993 and 1995 a bigger renovation took place, when it gained its present shape. The statue of Kázmér Domokos, a franciscan bishop, who was born in Sovata/Szováta  is placed at the entrance of the church.
