Géra salt water spring

Full description

It commemorates the former salt water spring of the town, which supplied the Lower Baths with water. The founder of the first baths, József Veress collected the water of the salt creeks and the sun heated water was led into the basin through some channels. The treatment in the Géra bath was extremely efficient, with more than 21 diseases being cured.
The Géra salt fountain was built on the street corner opposite the former bath and a commemorative plaque was placed near it.
After the fountain was built, the salt-water was available for everyone and the so-called “géra water” is ideal and used in the kitchen (preserving meat and vegetables, pickling).
